How to Apply Hair Color Remover Products

Hair Color RemoverApplying hair color is one of the easiest ways to update your look. The right hair color can soften your features, make you look younger and make you feel sexier and more confident.

The popularity of hair color products has meant that there are now plenty of choices when it comes to brands and color. With all the options available to you, you’d think it would be easier to get the look that you want. But in reality, getting the exact shade that you want has never been more difficult or confusing!

It doesn’t matter whether you use a DIY hair color product or you had your hair colored by a professional colorist. Mistakes can happen. If you do not like the color you end up with, one recourse you can take is to use hair color remover products.

Hair color remover is a product that contain ingredients designed to take out the artificial pigments on your hair. It is best used in cases where the hair color you got is too dark than what you had intended. There are several brands available at your local drugstore if you intend to do it yourself. But for novices, it’s probably best to have a professional colorist do it for you.

There are generally 2 types of hair color removers. One kind does not contain bleach. What it does is it loosens the hold of artificial pigments on your hair. You end up with the original color of your hair. This product is best for permanent dyes and may not work that well for semi-permanent dyes.

The other kind of hair color remover is the one that contains bleach. What this kind of product does is it lightens the pigments that are on your hair regardless of whether these are from the dye or from your natural hair color.

There are a number of drawbacks to this type of hair color remover. For one, it lightens natural hair color faster than artificial pigments, so it could be tricky getting an even color - especially if you are trying to remove highlights. Another thing is the bleach in this product is harsh on the hair and can strip your hair of moisture and protein.

The best time to apply a hair color remover is within 48 to 72 hours from the time the hair dye was applied. At this time, the color hasn’t completely set deep into your hair, so removing or correcting the color is easier. After a week, the color would have permeated completely into your hair, making removal so much harder.

Do note that the process of removing hair color takes time. One application may not be sufficient to achieve the effect that you are aiming for. Be prepared for several sessions to restore the color of your hair.
